SB 1070's "Perfectly Fine," According to Miss Oklahoma. Thanks for Clearing That Up

We have a feeling Morgan Woolard has heard the phrase "at least she's pretty" a few times over the course of her life.

We stumbled upon the Miss USA Pageant (known in the world of beauty pageants as Miss America's even ditzier cousin) on NBC last night, and before we could change the channel, one of the contestants nervously answered the question "how tall are you" with "I'm great, thanks."

Then, much like ghoulishly watching a train wreck, we couldn't look away.

It didn't take long before the topic of conversation was Arizona's controversial, new immigration law, and according to one of the contestants, the new law is "perfectly fine."

During a Q&A with the pageant's judges, Morgan Woolard, this year's Miss Oklahoma, was asked the first question by Oscar Nunez -- of gay-guy-from-The Office fame -- and he decided to dive right into AZ's new statute.

The minute Nunez opened his mouth and the words "Arizona" and "immigration" came out, the theater filled with boos and hisses, but Nunez continued, telling the crowd to "listen to the question before you boo."

Using the same tone you would use when speaking to a classroom full of kindergarten students, Nunez asked Woolard what she thought about the new law in terms of states' rights.

"I'm a huge believer ins states' rights," she said. "I think that's what's so wonderful about America, so I think it's perfectly fine for Arizona to create that law."

Seeming to remember about halfway through her response that there were a few other issues involved in the new law that are a bit more pressing than states' rights, Woolard added, "I am against illegal immigration, but I'm also against racial profiling, so I see both sides in this issue."

Sounds like someone went to the J.D. Hayworth Academy for qestion-dodging.

Not taking a stand on the more-controversial aspects of SB 1070 wasn't enough to snag the top-spot for Woolard; she to Miss Michigan.
