Senator Jon Kyl
Big ups to Arizona's junior senator, Senator Jon Kyl, for being named one of Time magazine's 100 people who "most affect our world."

Lady Ga-Ga, and Simon Cowell are also on the list, although, in a different category, so the distinction may not be as distinguished as the title might suggest.

Kyl receieved the honor in this week's issue of Time, among other politicos like President Barack Obama, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sarah Palin, and U.S. Senator Scott Brown (R-Massachusetts).

Hillary Clinton was not on the list.

In an accompanying essay, Kyl was touted by Senator Mitch McConnell as "a principled conservative" and "a great persuader."

"As minority whip, the No. 2 position in the Senate Republican leadership, he is responsible for rallying his Republican colleagues for key legislative votes," McConnell wrote. "What is unique is his single-minded focus on convincing them that a particular vote is in the best interests of their state and the nation. Jon demonstrates continually that the essence of Senate power is the power to persuade."
