Arizona Governor Jan Brewer Signs Wild West Gun Bills Into Law

Categories: Wild, Wild West
Governor Jan Brewer signed two bills into law yesterday that -- if nothing else -- solidify Arizona's reputation as the Wild West.

One of the bills, HB 2307, allows Arizonans to own guns without registering them with the federal government, as long as the guns are made, bought, and sold in Arizona.

Supporters of the bill are using it as a declaration of Arizona's sovereignty from the federal government, and Brewer seems to be swallowing that worm hook, line, and sinker.

"These two pieces of legislation related to firearms protect and strengthen Arizonan's constitutional rights provided under the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. In particular, HB 2307 should send a clear and convincing message that politicians in Washington should not attempt to get between Arizonans and their constitutional rights." Brewer says in a statement.

The bills are just the latest in a series of gun laws that a recent analysis of Arizona's gun policies by The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence concluded "lack common sense.

"Since Arizona does not require Brady criminal background checks on all firearm sales, including those at gun shows, gun traffickers don't need to leave the state to funnel illegal guns to felons and gang members," says Paul Helmke, Brady Campaign president. "Arizona officials have done nothing in the past year to stop the flow of illegal guns within the state, including closing the loophole that allows dangerous people to walk into gun shows and buy guns without background checks."

As we stated in a previous post about some of Arizona's other gun-related legislation, what Arizona may lack in common-sense gun laws, it makes up for in hillbilly, gun-toting legislators. Click here to have a look at some of their handiwork from this legislative session.

Wow how stupid can you be. Just so you know Arizona has way less gun related crimes compared to states with very strict gun laws. Oh and the dangerous people you are talking about can just as easily get guns from smugglers without any background check whatsoever. So before you go taking law abiding citizens guns away or making them not able to get guns why dont you think about states like California or Illinois or even the district of Columbia they have way worse violent crime rates. Give people their guns because you never know how long the police will take to respond. Just wait until your house is being robbed and your whole family is going to be murdered then you'll wish you had a gun

i lived in az. for 17 years i own a lot of guns i used to go into the boondocks on sat.and shoot then return to the city stop at the local watering hole walk inside give my gun to the barkeep then when i left i got my gun and went home no one was ever hurt no one gave a dam.the ass holes who cry and cry about guns and bars should ask why you can stop and buy gas and also buy a six-pack then drive off with there beer they kill more people than guns.if you ever wont my guns just come and get them.

the big gun in the picture is not real its a training toy for the army if you look you will notice only one side is shown as the other side is cut away
