Divorce-Finalization Bill Sanely Shot Down in Arizona Legislature

​A bill to force people who want to get divorced to stay married longer -- in the hope that they would reconsider -- was shot down in the Arizona House of Representatives today.

Score one for sanity.

A divorce can be the most maddening thing a person can go through, and while most of us would rather just get it over with as fast as possible, Representative Nancy Barto thought it was the responsibility of the state to play morality police.

Barto introduced the bill, which would have extended the time it takes a divorce to be finalized from two months to six months.

Barto argued that there are 15 other states with similar wait-times that have lower divorce rates. Like, who cares,Nancy?

The majority of legislators apparently didn't and killed the bill in a 33-23 vote.
