Three people were killed yesterday when a dump truck hit a group of motorcyclists in north Phoenix. Eight motorcycles were stopped at a red light near 27th drive and Carefree Highway when the dump truck hit them from behind, pinning three people under the truck. Six more people were taken to the hospital, and Carefree Highway was closed for several hours...The city of Mesa is conducting a fraud investigation into the Mesa Arts Center. Investigators are looking into claims that a temporary employee was paid for work he didn't do, that some employees let people take classes for free, and that donated funds were misused. The city disciplined some employees, and the police are recommending criminal charges against the temp employee...The Surprise City Council voted last night to fire City Manager Randy Oliver. Oliver's contract was terminated without cause, which will cost the city about $200,000. Interim Assistant City Manager George Kolb will act as city manager until a replacement is found for Oliver...

Maricopa County sheriff's deputies served search warrants on four McDonald's restaurants in the Valley this morning. Deputies reportedly believe that more than 50 of the McDonald's employees were using false or stolen identities. Deputies also served a warrant on the Paradise Valley home of Richard Coulston,  allegedly the owner of the McDonald's franchises...A 20-year-old man from Bullhead City has been cited for vandalizing ancient petroglyphs at Grape Vine Canyon in the Lake Mead area. Park rangers were tipped off March 19 that people were shooting paintballs in the area. The man was also cited for using and discharging a weapon and littering...Phoenix boat shop owner Ryan Martin was arrested this week on two charges of fraud. According to police, Martin, owner of Deer Valley Watersports Inc., would take Valley residents' boats to sell on consignment, but when he sold the boats, he pocketed the cash. Martin's being held at the Maricopa County Jail on $10,000 bond.
