Here is your guide to today's spring training games, as well as a look at some of yesterday's games that most Valley baseball fans actually care about (sorry, Royals fans, there's nothin' here for you unless your boys happen to play against the Diamondbacks, the Dodgers, or the Cubs):

Arizona Diamondbacks: The Diamondbacks beat the San Diego Padres 5-4 in extra innings yesterday. D-backs starter Ian Kennedy went five shutout innings, netting eight strikeouts in the win, but the bullpen fell apart in the late innings to give the Padres a 4-0 lead going into the ninth. The Rattlers were able to tie it up in the bottom of the ninth with two two-run homers by John Hester and Drew Macias, which allowed the D-backs to win the game in extra innings.

Chicago Cubs: The Cubbies got banged up 9-2 by the Cleveland Indians yesterday and were nearly shutout until scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija, competing for a final spot in the Cubs pitching rotation, gave up two runs, four hits, and two walks in his last start before Coach Lou Piniella announces his regular season pitching staff this Friday.

Los Angeles Dodgers: The Dodgers beat the Milwaukee Brewers yesterday 8-4. Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw gave up one earned run and only two hits, while striking out six in five complete innings.
