A controversial bill that would allow faculty to carry guns on campuses has advanced in Arizona. According to Senator Jack Harper, who introduced the bill, his proposal would deter gunmen from opening fire on Arizona campuses. A preliminary committee voted 5-2 to approve the bill, and it now goes to the House Committee of the Whole for a vote...Another controversial bill, one that would allow motorcyclists to weave through traffic, will be debated at the Arizona House today. Sponsored by Republican Representative Jerry Weiers of Glendale, the bill already has cleared two committees in the House. If it becomes law, motorcyclists would be allowed to pass vehicles in the same lane during traffic jams. The law would apply only to Maricopa County...Sheriff's deputies in Yavapai County have arrested several people in Prescott on suspicion of selling drugs out of a trailer park. At least four people were arrested for selling everything from prescription pills to meth out of the Chimney Ranch Trailer Park, and at the Circle K across the street. Deputies are still searching for one suspect...

The pilot of a single-engine experimental airplane that crashed on the Gila River reservation Wednesday survived eight hours under the wreckage while waiting for rescue crews. The pilot, 63-year-old Charles Blanchette of Phoenix, is now recovering in a hospital. He is listed in critical condition...Tempe police Officer Jared Blanchard has resigned after allegations that he used his job to meet and date women while on duty. Blanchard, who worked for the department for two years, allegedly slept with at least four women he met while on duty. According to reports, Blanchard would pull them over, then get their phone numbers from the citations and text them...Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will speak at ASU on March 25. Former Arizona Governor Napolitano will lecture on "Meeting New and Evolving Threats to Our National Security," and nearly 700 people have reserved a spot for the free talk.
