State Senator Jim Waring Has Huge Lead in GOP Race for John Shadegg's Congressional Seat, According to Poll

​State Senator Jim Waring holds a double-digit lead over any of his potential GOP opponents for the District 3 Congressional seat now held by John Shadegg, a poll released this morning finds.

Conducted by the right-leaning Summit Consulting Group, Inc, the polls finds that Waring would get 50 percent of the Republican vote, distantly followed by former state Senator Pam Gorman, who would come away with 26 percent.

Ever since Shadegg announced he would not seek another term, possible Republican replacements have been popping out of the woodwork. It's even been rumored that Ben Quayle, son of former Vice-President Dan Quayle, was planning a run.

At the moment, the most notable candidates, who have already pledged to run against Waring also include: Paradise Valley Mayor Vernon Parker, Representative Sam Crump, and a bunch of other GOPers, who like Gorman, Parker, and Crump, also don't seem to stand a chance against Waring, if the poll is correct.

Below is how the Summit poll broke down.

Jim Waring -- 50.0%

Pamela Gorman -- 26.8 percent

Sam Crump -- 8.5 percent

Vernon Parker -- 7.3 percent

Debra Brimhall -- 2.4 percent

Ed Winkel -- 2.4 percent

Paulina Morris -- 1.2 percent

It should be noted, however, that while the Summit Group claims it was never paid to conduct the poll, Chad Willems, owner of the group, tells the Arizona Guardian that he plans to work closely with the Waring campaign in the future.
