Chandler Police Make Arrest in Three-Year-Old Murder Case

Police arrested 22-year-old Rodrigo Romero yesterday for possible involvement in the 2006 murder of Lindsey Key.

Key was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting near Arizona Avenue and Erie Street in Chandler on December 3, 2006.

Chandler cops got word that Romero had an argument with members of a rival gang just an hour before the drive-by occurred -- less than a mile from where Key was shot.

During the argument, Romero is believed to have pulled out a gun and threatened the gangsters, but didn't fire.

After the argument, police say the men fighting with Romero went to a house where Key was visiting a friend and, within an hour, the drive-by occurred.

Key had no affiliation with either gang.

Murder charges have not yet been filed against Romerom and he is just one of several suspects police are eying in connection with the murder. 

However, Romero already faces charges of aggravated assault, assisting a criminal street gang, and gang threats.
