ASU Tempe Campus Named as One of Five Finalists in Google Street-View Contest

Street View is a popular feature by Google that gives users a 360-degree street-level look at locations in most major American cities. It has been used at a college campus once before for a promotional campaign at the University of Pennsylvania, and now Google is looking to map the walkways and trails at a new university.
Google is holding a contest to see which college campus is worthy of a Street View and ASU is among the finalists.
If selected, Google would send a "Street View trike" to Tempe to cruise around the ASU campus and snap photos.
The "trike" as Google calls it, is basically just a bike towing a compartment with a camera perched about eight feet above it.
The trike would ride around the campus as the camera takes a continuous stream of 360 degree photographs that are later organized to create Street View.
Of the more than 25,000 places considered for a street view, ASU is one of five universities on the final list.
The other campuses on the short list are the Rochester Institute of Technology, Michigan State University, Stanford University, and Princeton University.
