A Prescott Valley woman, who now lives in Maricopa County, was sentenced to two years' probation and 80 hours of community service after pleading guilty to animal cruelty and disorderly conduct.

Boy did Michael Vick pick the wrong lawyer.

Laura Ann King, 21, pleaded guilty in August after she murdered her 6-month-old kitten in her Prescott apartment on February 7.

Neighbors called police after they heard a woman screaming and what sounded like a cat being thrown around the apartment.

When police got to her house, the cat was no longer getting tossed about -- because it was dead. King was arrested the following day.

As part of her probation, King is not permitted to own or have custody of any pets or domesticated animals.

Judging by the last pet she had, it seems as though she didn't want one to begin with.

If King violates her probation, Yavapai County Superior Court Judge Ralph M. Hess told her she could face a two-year prison sentence.

With all this wrist-slapping Judge Hess' hand must be killing him.
