Big Surf water park in Tempe will close at the end of Labor Day, perhaps for good. PLN filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court against the Corrections Corporation of America and officials at the Saguaro Correctional Center in Eloy, claiming the prison prohibited at least six inmates from receiving books...Two Arizona men have started a company called Out West Family Films. Based in the old mining town of Chloride, the company allows tourists to star in their own gunfight films in the middle of downtown. The company hopes to begin operations this weekend...

One man is dead and another wounded after an early morning shootout in Maryvale. According to police, several people stormed a house near 59th avenue and Encanto and started shooting. They are looking for suspects, described as two Hispanic men between the ages of 30 and 40, who were seen fleeing in a dark blue or dark green Chevy S10 pickup truck...A Pima County Sheriff's deputy has been fired after he rolled his patrol vehicle and showed signs of impairment after the crash. The former deputy, Daniel M. Williams, was off duty and wearing civilian clothing when the crash occurred...Northern Arizona University has dropped its lawsuit against California pornography company La Touraine Inc., which operates a site called Naughty American University (NAU). La Touraine has agreed to stop using Northern Arizona University's trademark.
