​The town of Gilbert is a nice place to live, but it's no place to go when you die -- it's the only southeast Valley community without a cemetery. Residents have recently begun e-mailing Gilbert Mayor John Lewis, requesting that a cemetery be built. Lewis said constructing a graveyard may not be financially feasible right now, but that it would be discussed by town council...Former Sun Devil Ryan Torain has been released from his contract with the Denver Broncos. Torain's career at ASU was plagued with injuries, something that followed him into the NFL, where he missed almost all of his rookie season with a broken elbow. The Broncos have replaced him with running back Marcus Thomas...A 14 year-old student who brought a gun to Desert Moon Elementary School in Surprise planned to take the school principal hostage, according to police. The student allegedly planned to demand the principal give his friends all A's in class and longer recesses. Police were alerted, and the gun confiscated, before the student could carry out his plan...President Barack Obama and his family will be in the Valley for three days and two nights this weekend, according to the White House. The family plans to stay in the Valley Saturday night, and travel to the Grand Canyon on Sunday...A fight between neighbors in Mesa early this morning turned deadly when one man allegedly shot another over a long-standing feud. The shooting victim was pronounced dead at the hospital...The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office raided a paper plant early this morning, investigating potential violations of the employer-sanctions law and allegations that many workers at the plant are using fake IDs. The MCSO anticipates they'll make more than 100 arrests.
