A Tucson man was sentenced to death for the second time in the 13 year-old slayings of two Tucson residents. Scott Nordstrom's original death sentence was overturned in 2002, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that juries, not judges, should decide the sentences in capital cases. A jury took less than three hours to render the verdict...A large group of suspected illegal immigrants were taken into custody after an early morning traffic stop in Surprise. Officers tried to pull a van over along the Loop 303 because it had no license plates, and occupants started throwing bags out the windows. 16 people were arrested...Salt River Project won't be raising its rates. The power and electric company decided against a proposed 8.8 percent increase, saying it would be too harmful to the company and customers in the current economy...A Valley Vista woman has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after Mohave county sheriff's deputies served a warrant and found four dogs in inhumane conditions and poor health on her property. The woman, Heather Kral, is also being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
