Death Valley: Burned Body Found in Church Trash Can

Fire crews battling a blaze at the Covenant of Grace Christian Fellowship Church at the corner of 9th Avenue and Peoria Avenue found the body of a 46-year-old man in a church trash can early this morning.
The body was so badly burned that, at first, police couldn't determine if the charred body was male or female. The pastor of the church says he doesn't believe the deceased is a member of the church, and police say they have now identified the man. However, they will not release the victim's name until his family is notified.
Police are investigating the death as a homicide, and are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Silent Witness, or the Phoenix Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau at 602-262-6141.
