Arizona's three state universities will receive a boost next week, as the federal government begins dishing out $154 million in stimulus funds. The universities permanently reduced their budgets by 20 percent this year, but university officials say the funds will still help save hundreds of jobs...A bankruptcy judge has moved the auction for the Phoenix Coyotes from Wednesday to September 10. The postponement increases speculation that Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf could withdraw his bid, which he's seemed inclined to do since attorneys for former Coyotes owner Jerry Moyes revealed details of the negotiations in court filings...A woman from Fredonia, Arizona was arrested after driving more than 100 mph past the Camp Verde Jail in Yavapai County. When officers stopped the woman, Linda Majenty, they say a breath test showed her blood-alcohol level to be three times the legal limit. Majenty's being charged with aggravated DUI and seven counts of endangerment...A semi-truck caught fire on I-17 near New River overnight, scrambling the load of eggs it was hauling and leading to the closure of one southbound lane until at least noon today. The brakes on the semi apparently overheated and caused the fire. The driver was uninjured...A film crew recently spent some time in Green Valley, Arizona, filming desert ants for a National Geographic film tentatively titled Planet of the Ants. The movie's scheduled to be released in September 2010...A Tempe mother has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly pepper spraying her daughters because they wouldn't hand over her car keys. The woman, Michelle Antone, was drunk, according to police, and angry that her children prevented her from driving. Hmm. Maybe mother doesn't always know best.
