Doug Quelland, and a 'stache that puts Yosemite Sam to shame.

Arizona State Representative Doug Quelland filed a lawsuit in state court today to try to keep his seat in the Legislature.

In May, the Clean Elections Commission voted 4-1 to give Quelland the boot after it claimed he spent $15,000 to hire a campaign adviser, and failed to report the expenditure on campaign reports.

The commission found emails, billing statements, and other documents that confirmed that a private election-consulting firm did extensive work for Quelland, despite his denial that the firm ever worked for him.

Quelland is only the second person removed from office by the commission since it was created nearly a decade ago.

Quelland who has always supported Arizona's Public Funding Law, will go before a judge Thursday to plead his case
