"Electronic Cigarettes" Still Bad For You, FDA Study Finds; Scottsdale Company Preparing Counter-Study

Cigarettes are bad for you and can cause cancer -- even if they're electronic, according to an FDA report released earlier today.

The study analyzed the chemicals contained in the electronic nicotine cartridges from Smoking Everywhere Inc., and NJOY, a Scottsdale-based company.

"These tests indicate that these products contained detectable levels of known carcinogens and toxic chemicals to which users could potentially be exposed," the FDA said in a press release.

NJOY Spokesperson Amy Linert says that the company never claimed that electronic cigarettes were a healthier alternative -- just that they were "an alternative" to traditional cigarettes.

Um, okay. But then, why smoke them? (The company's Web site says one reason might be that e-cigarettes don't give users the dreaded "ashtray mouth."

NJOY will be releasing a counter-study within the next two weeks.

The fda is crappin their pants,feeling pressure from big tobcacco and pharmacutial special interest groups to kill the e-cig,why? $$$$$ money ,no cig profits, no tax profits, millions in maketing and research to create gums and patches,all gone. I was a smoker for 20 years, it has seriously effected my health, I couldnt run at all, I struggled to walk up the stairs. I decided I had to give up, at the age of 36 I felt like I was an old man and ready for the scrapyard. I tried various ways to give up and really struggled. I actually tried it once, but for me its a way to prevent my habit from smoking true cigarette thats why i recommend it for all addict smokers out there who want to feel free from their bad habit.
False information funded by big tobacco and Pharma. Electronic cigarettes contain no smoke, only 2 out of the 4000 chemicals in tobacco cigarettes. Pharma will lose billions because people will stop buying the non smoking aids that do not work. If they ban electronic cigarettes, they users will go back to tobacco and die.
The lab report states that they found a chemical (diethylene glycol) at a miniscule amount of less than 1% from 1 specific cartridge from 1 specific flavor from 1 specific brand of <a href="http://www.halocigs.com" rel="nofollow">Electronic Cigarette</a> (No other cartridges had any of this chemical), the same brand that is currently SUING the FDA for stealing their shipments without authority - SmokingEverywhere (Jeez i wonder if there is a connection there)... Less than 1% was found... WHATS THE MARGIN OF ERROR?? Secondly the other chemicals found that are apparently toxic are nitrosamine's... These are nicotine deritives that are already found and known to be in real cigarettes and these were only found in LESS than HALF of the cartridges tested. This means that about half of the cartridges tested contained NO TOXIC SUBSTANCES and 99% tested were safer than real cigarettes. Yet they are marketing the conclusion that all ecigs are dangerous? Where does this come from... if you even read the report they specifically point out this is not their conclusion. Please go to FDA.gov and read the entire study-the FDA is lying to you, the amount of the chemical was 1% and they do not give a margin of error-and also-the company with the 1% chemical is suing the FDA-how convenient. This company is not Njoy.Big Tobacco is completely behind this false information. Electric cigarettes may not be the best thing for you, but they do not have the 599 additives that regular cigarettes have. the chemical the FDA is speaking about is in regular cigarettes at a much higher level.
