These attacks on Prejean are all ad hominem vis-a-vis the issue that got her into the news.

What Prejean may have done as a 17-year-old or whenever is between her and her confessor. She is not reported to have done anything that isn't already part of mainstream American culture, and for that we are all responsible.

This story becomes newsworthy if she loses her title, but then the Miss California pageant should be asked to reconcile its enforcement of family values in the model's portfolio department with its disregard for them when one of its representatives stands up for marriage as an institution to unite two people who are actually capable of having a family. (Before anyone starts, no-one should make fun of a couple whose only impediment to child-bearing is the handicap of infertility).

Prejean made a human mistake. The pageant is an institution which appears to be inconsistently laying down the law.

(She was 17, by the way. I don't think it's appropriate to be directing people to such photos of a minor.)

So, God doesn't want gays to get married but he doesn't mind if she takes a damn-near naked pic, showing side boob, at 17 at that. Please this girl is a trip, just sit down and shut up!! I wouldn't care about this pic if she wasn't parading around the country saying that gays shouldn't have the same rights as she does and using the Bible to justify it. It's funny how people like to use the Bible to back up their opinions when they are just as "sinful" and "immoral", just in a different way. Hypocrites.

TMZ.com is reporting that Miss Rhode Island has even racier photos than Miss California that she took for Maxim magazine and that the pageant officials knew all about it but never took her crown. Is this a double-standard for Miss California?
