Talk about a party foul.

The executive director of the Arizona Republican Party, Brett Mecum, was arrested today at party headquarters in Phoenix.

Later info from an Arizona Republic blog is that Mecum was taken down for speeding, possibly because of a photo-enforcement violation. New Times' rumor patrol has heard the same thing -- we hear Mecum had been pinned at more than 100 mph by a local freeway cam. The Department of Public Safety, which operates the state photo enforcement system, hasn't yet gotten back to us.  says info on Mecum's arrest will be released at about 4:30 p.m.
