Redflex Speed Camera Firm Still Evaluating Program Safety for Employees; Thanks Cops for Quick Arrest of Suspect

Redflex Traffic Systems is still in the process of evaluating the safety of photo radar vans for its employees as the company mourns the death of shooting victim Doug Georgianni (at right), says a statement from the firm.

Photo radar vans from Redflex and other photo enforcement vendors were pulled off the streets following Sunday night's murder of Georgianni, 51. When those vans will be put back in service is anyone's guess. In the statement, Redflex CEO Karen Finley says:

Both internally and in consultation with the Department of Public Safety, we are being deliberative and prudent in our review of various factors to establish criteria that will allow for the re-deployment of our mobile speed enforcement vans. We will alert the public on a timely basis when we have new information to share.

Finley wants the media to remind the public about a memorial fund at Bank of America for Georgianni's family, but asks that reporters show "collective patience" with the company. Finley says "it would not be appropriate" for Redflex officials to speculate publicly about how the shooting occurred.

Redflex likes to brag about getting in with the news media to "disseminate" their message. At least that is what they told DPS via their contract here in Arizona. The contract is online at camerafraud.com
Just look at the map, other cities have had photo radar for over a decade like PV and Peoria.. oh yea.. Peoria took them away. I am saying, disperse the system so everyone joins the "fun." Just think what a nice backstop all those nice-artistic, painted and landscaped filled freeways will make for the photos.
TommyC: Redflex has many lobbyists and media "plants" helpingthem to wiggle their way further into our pockets. They are far more than the contractor showing up to provide a service. They came up with the service and they have designed the political strategy that put it upon us (including getting NapoloReno to fund the clean elections fund with the proceeds).
Rule 11: If memory serves me correctly the photo radar movement started in Scottsdale on the 101, yes? The DPS map seems to have cameras located where the crash rate might be the highest and/or the potential for revenue is the best. I still see people slowing on the 101 in Scottsdale when they get to the old locations for photo radar. What exactly makes a person 'elite' because they live in the north east part of the metroplex?
This is a horrible loss; human life is precious at all costs. I have an idea for RedFlex and DPS: How about we move all of these cameras to the East Valley where that population can be reminded of the unequal representation and taxation? Or are they too afraid to make the elites of the “good side of town” upset! I don't support or agree with photo speed enforcement, but Redflex and ATS are just two companies delivering a product and service. I don't see a problem with that. I do see a problem with our local and state government officials who have authorized this type of 'enforcement device, predicated on traffic safety, when in reality it's just to increase revenue flow. It drives me nuts when I read the news articles about the murder and they all say the victim was 'behind the driver's seat'. To me that means he was sitting in the second row of seats, not in the driver's position in the car. He must have been IN the driver's seat of the vehicle since the shots apparently penetrated the driver door window. I am hoping that RedFlex and ATS both establish a policy that the employee takes a position in the RIGHT REAR seat of the vehicle when it's parked and being used for photo speed enforcement. To me that seems the safest place in the car for any similar events, should they happen. I would also suggest that some type of bullet resistant barrier be fabricated down the middle of the vehicle in the rear passenger area, should there be guns fired toward the vehicle.
The murder of this man was truly sinceless and undeserved. But piss on Redflex and Karen Finley anyway.
