The statue of the Kentucky Fried Chicken kingpin sank in the river 24 years ago, after fans of the Hanshin Tigers baseball team  tossed it in the water to celebrate their team winning the Japanese World Series. The team never won another Series after that, but apparently, the "Curse of the Colonel" has now been lifted.
