The Bender family will fetch pails of water for World Water Day.
When it comes to parents trying to teach their children how hard it is for kids in other countries, the old eat-your-dinner adage, "There are children starving in Asia," could easily be swapped for, "There are children hauling water up hills in third world countries."

Or in this case, there are children hauling water down Main Street in Buckeye. A West Valley 101 story tells how the Bender family has decided to turn off the water to their Verrado home for a week to show how hard it is for people in other parts of the world to get clean water. Mark and Kristine Bender, along with their daughters Picabo, 13, and Livvie, 10, will haul plastic buckets of water a mile from the Verrado Village Sport and Health Club to their home.

The family will begin carrying the water buckets on March 22, in observance of World Water Day, and will blog about their experiences at waterislife.com. They're hoping people will donate $10 each toward the purchase of water filters for children in Kenya.
