Police: No Signs of Foul Play in Death of Joel Sinclaire, Former County Supervisor Candidate
Joel Sinclaire, a 46-year-old Democrat who ran un- successfully this year for Maricopa County Supervisor against Don Stapley, was found dead in his residence Sunday afternoon.
Sinclaire's family called police about 1:15 p.m. Sunday to report the death. When police arrived at the house near Happy Valley and Hayden roads, they found no sign of any foul play in the death, says Officer David Pubins, spokesman for the Scottsdale Police Department.
The case was turned over to the county medical examiner's office, Pubins says.
A friend of Sinclaire's told the Arizona Republic the small business attorney had seemed "fine" days before he died and she didn't know any possible cause of death.
A first-time would-be politician for the supervisor seat in Maricopa County's District Two, Sinclaire was solidly trounced in the November 4 election by longtime Republican incumbent Don Stapley, who received nearly twice as many votes. -- Ray Stern
