Tom Gosinski Surfaces to Retell Cindy McCain Drug Story
By Amy Silverman
Tom Gosinski has surfaced. The guy who blew the whistle to New Times on Cindy McCain's prescription drug theft surfaced this week at a Holiday Inn in the Washington, D.C. area, telling his story again.
Here's our original story, published in 1994. I spoke briefly to Gosinski this summer; he called to say a guy calling himself a private investigator had shown up on his mother's doorstep, looking for Tom. Tom was horrified and so was his mom -- so he said, anyway.
Tom insisted the Cindy story was a thing of the past and that he was done talking. He'd moved on with his life. I emailed him just to be sure he hadn't changed his mind, for a story I did this summer. He didn't respond.
Guess this week's poll numbers blasted Gosinski back to the past?

Palin is a great distraction from keeping the spotlight off the McCains. Your article opens the door for the dialog to the alarming crisis in our country, our "addiction to incarceration" and the profiteers who gain off the backs of human misery.
Under Federal and Arizona, harsh mandatory minimum sentencing and three-strikes laws, our prisons are filled with thousands serving long harsh sentences for small amounts of drugs -- crossing all races and socioeconomic levels.
"Pew Prison Report: 1 in 100 Adults in Prison in the U.S."
2.2 million incarcerated in America. #1 Jailer in the world a disgraceful statistic in a "free" country. The candidates need to address this issue, rather than sweeping it under the rug. It does not even appear as a campaign issue on the many lists. Amy, thanks for opening the door, on the growing crisis in America.
Just as Palin as brought us into the Mommy Wars dialog, the McCains can open the much needed dialog on the Drug Wars, it's cost to society and threat to our future, the prison systems and the profiteers.

Do you think that there interest in the mainstream news? It seems that this type of abuse of power from a presidential candidate - especially on the heals of the Keating 5 scandal, should warrant a closer look bt serious journalists.

Posted On: Thursday, Sep. 11 2008 @ 3:56PM@ TobyG -- and that's the way Italy is again today, thanks to Berlusconi. Funny thing is, Americans think he's a clown. He's that but also a crook and the purchaser of Italian democracy. We can see it clearly but half the people there cannot.
Of course, they can see our clowns and thieves pretty clearly. No surprise, they see McCain in the same light as GWB. Sarah Palin puzzles and horrifies them. They think we're even stupider than they are. If we elect McCain/Palin, we'll prove it, no question.
I speak with some authority because I travel to Italy frequently on business (wine importation) and meet all kinds of people in every part of the country. They are almost 100% united in their affection for America. About the same percentage is disillusioned with it.
Well, ragazzi, join the club.
Posted On: Thursday, Sep. 11 2008 @ 4:54PMAre you kidding? The McCains are just the ticket for the lying right wing righteous right. They fit the republican mold to a tee!
