It's been nearly a year since New Times columnist Sarah Fenske reported on the brouhaha over the Men's Grill at our own Phoenix Country Club. (Her recent update's here. And here.) That other paper, the New York Times, has finally taken note of the controversy.

It all began in 1920 when the Nineteenth Amendment to the Constitution was ratified. Now if a man wishes to escape the power inherent in women's voting, he has to go to the Middle East (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates) or Brunei in Southeast Asia.

Women fought hard for change and those coming to work and live in Arizona need to be informed. They are very much at risk for losing their careers and lives in this state -- and end up in prison where the men want them kept. Hope they don't have a bad relationship, marriage or end up in the family courts because that's when they'll find out. It would be nice if the major issues for women were whether they got accepted at the Country Club or not, unfortunately the brute reality of how women are treated in Arizona is more like the countries you names.

Tell does anyone care that these single sex haelth clubs are doing the exact same thing?
Oh wait I forgot only white men can be discriminatory, my mistake.
