If you missed the sold-out shows Dr. Dog played at the Crescent Ballroom in February, you don't have to wait much longer for another chance to see the Philadelphia band. Dr. Dog is playing a free show at Desert Botanical Gardens on May 15. RSVP here.
The event is part of the Moon Tour, a series of concerts put on across the country by Blue Moon Brewing Company. All sorts of Blue Moon beers will be available at the event, which is, understandably, 21-plus, and "food inspired by and incorporating the beer," made by a local vendor, will be on-site providing food, according to an event spokesman.
"It's rare to find a group that can go from being a cassette-recorded basement pastime to a full band that's able to translate dazzling musicianship from the album to the stage. Such an evolution is rarely seamless, however. Dr. Dog -- whose brand of psychedelic-tinged, harmony-driven pop was once the outlier and is now an influencer -- is no exception," Up on the Sun's KC Libman wrote a few months ago.
