Paul McCartney is coming to Phoenix in August.

Paul McCartney announced new dates for his Out There tour, and guess what? Phoenix is one of them. The former Beatle will play US Airways Center on August 12.

Tickets go on sale Monday, May 5, at 10 a.m. and can be purchased through Ticketmaster, Live Nation, and the box office.

The 71-year-old McCartney has kept busy tin recent times. Last year, he released his 16th studio album, New, to near-universal acclaim, and at the end of 2012, he played the part of Kurt Cobain and teamed up with the former members of Nirvana (Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear, to be precise) for a mini-reunion for Hurricane Sandy relief.

McCartney hasn't lost an iota of his performance swagger since his heyday. He is active and energetic on stage, backed by a killer band and some sweet pyrotechnics as well. His shows include classic Beatles and Wings tunes as well as some of his newer material.

The August show will be McCartney's first stop in Phoenix since March 2010.
