Four Acts to See at Wet Electric This Weekend
Melissa Fossum Wet Electric 2013
Wet Electric, Phoenix's original water-park festival returns this weekend for two days at two locations: Saturday, April 26, at Big Surf in Tempe, and on Sunday, April 27, at Talking Stick Resort and Casino in Scottsdale.
As always, the lineup includes everything from dance music heavyweights to local legends. If you're on the fence about which day to go, or are trying to figure out the logistics of when to get there, definitely include these acts in your itinerary.
Dzeko and Torres
This Toronto-based duo's big room style unites the melodies you love from progressive house with the energy and boom of electro. Dzeko and Torres have done a lot of remixes, including Krewella's "We Are One," Imagine Dragons' "Demons" and Pegboard Nerds' "Bassline Kickin." More recently, they turned towards original, releasing "Galaxy," featuring Alessia Rio.
If you plan to rage your face off and need something speedy and loud to jump and bang your head to -- Dzeko and Torres are your guys.
This Berlin-based producer and DJ is someone everyone can like. He is a balanced DJ who has been known to remix pop music, like Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" and Lady Gaga's "Judas." But he also appeals to the more hardcore dance music fans with cleanly produced original music like "Sing2Me," and collaborations with other well-known producers and DJs, like Dirty South.
Gold's laces his originals and remixes with an overall progressive house sensibility. While some of his tracks are little faster tempo, louder and rougher than some of his more melodic, vocal mixes, he never really crosses into electro.
If you're a bad influence on people, Thomas Gold is the kind of DJ you introduce friends who aren't super into the music -- yet. He's not as mainstream and poppy as Avicii or Tiesto, but not so hardcore that your friends are going to question your character.
