YACHT and Z-Trip Added to the Viva PHX Music Festival Lineup
The already stacked lineup for the Viva PHX music festival just got a little bigger. It already boasts more than 40 different bands and artists from A to Z (namely, Adam Arcuragi to Zero Zero) and, as of this morning, now includes quirky dance punk/electropop act YACHT and local DJ done good Z-Trip.

An announcement was made this morning on Facebook that both would be a part of the one-day music massive on March 7 and co-promoted by New Times and Stateside Presents at venues and locations throughout downtown.
YACHT -- or Y△CHT, which may or may not stand for "Young Americans Challenging High Technology" -- is the weirdo Portland-based (natch) ensemble consisting of Jona Bechtolt, Claire L. Evans, and a rotating lineup of collaborators that specializes in what our own Melissa Fossum described as "infectiously catchy synth beats, deadpan vocals, and a pinch of androgyny."

And Z-Trip, of course, is the Brooklyn-born, Arizona-raised mash-up king and turntablist who's popular locally, in his adopted home of L.A., and all around the world for his mad cutting, scratching, and selecting skills. So far, he's the first DJ added to the growing Viva PHX lineup, and hopefully won't be the only one performing by the time the event takes place six weeks from now at such spots as Crescent Ballroom, Last Exit Live, Bar Smith, and Hard Rock Cafe.
Rumor has it that additional acts will be announced over the next couple of weeks. For you budget-conscious music fans, it's worth noting that Viva PHX's $15 pre-sale tickets will be available only through today, with prices going up to $19 starting Thursday. Check out our original blog about the music festival for more info or hit up the Viva PHX website.
Viva PHX takes place on Friday, March 7, in downtown Phoenix.
