Kanye West's "New Slaves" Projection Is Coming to Phoenix (If the Police Don't Shut It Down)
Eventually, Kanye West is going to run out of progressively larger things to project himself onto. But he hasn't yet: According to an update to his website Friday, he's planning to do the whole "New Slaves" video reveal in several Phoenix locations Saturday night.
Marco Torres Either a screengrab from "All of the Lights" or what happened in Houston Friday.
That is, he plans on trying it, starting at 9 p.m. -- whether it happens or not is another story. On Friday, all three attempts in Houston failed, with two being broken up by the police and another falling through for as-yet-unexplained other reasons.
The good news: It sounds like if you head to a "New Slaves" showing in Phoenix tonight, you'll be entertained by either Kanye West or a bunch of police officers.
So I don't want to tell you you'll definitely see and hear a very large version of Kanye West tonight, but you'll definitely see a bunch of other people who were hoping to. Here are the Phoenix locations and times, which are (apparently) subject to change, cancellation, or just plain inaccuracy:
9 p.m.: 555 N. Central Ave., Walter Cronkite School of Journalism.
9:30 p.m.: 435 N. 5th St., Health Sciences Education Building, University of Arizona.
11 p.m.: 40 N. 1st St., Hanny's.
Embedded below is a video from one of the first "New Slaves" happenings. And yes, it is weird to hear Kanye West rapping an issue of Adbusters, but he's probably a pretty conflicted guy.
