Maynard James Keenan: Biodynamics For Dummies

The racquetball courts are soon to be converted into a full production teaching winery known as the Southwest Wine Center. This is huge for not only the Verde Valley but for Arizona viticulture as a whole. As I've mentioned in previous columns, we are decades away from truly establishing an identity as a wine region, but the Southwest Wine Center will shave years off of that search.

This is exactly how U.C. Davis began. They started as a small community college. But even though U.C. Davis is established and their database is extensive, our terroir isn't on their radar. Our hurdles, the nuances of our weather, terrain, soil composition, pests, and predators aren't in the California database. Their information is basically useless to us. We now have the opportunity to establish our own hub of knowledge, our power center.

Are you in need of a job? Let me rephrase that. Are you in need of a valuable craft that will not only put food on your family's table but provide you with inspiration and a reason to get up in the morning? Pay attention. The wine and viticulture industry in our state is growing exponentially. It's in need of a workforce on all levels. Knowledge is Power. Now you know. Now you have no excuse.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Southwest Wine Center: http://southwestwinecenter.org/

@puscifer Brings to mind the anti intelligence mindset of people today. The smart shunned and the ignorant praised.

Would love to be out in the country & able to make money at the same time, definitely worth looking into. Thanks for the knowledge.

i know this feeling. i've started businesses and am currently trying my hand at day trading foreign currencies and equities. It's hard given the market is so MERCURIAL (wink wink) but I'm having to do similar; run backtesting routines, and forward walking analysis with a database of algorithm performance and weeding out what doesn't work. Taking leaps of intuitive faith in a market that isn't friendly to such. Made some expensive mistakes and some profitable ones. All about familiarizing oneself with unmapped territories and making a map to navigate.  The only Holy Graal is the path one treads in search of the unfindable.

ps. Freenorth: STFU.

Look, I love aenima as much as the next guy, and good for you, Mr. Keenan, on establishing an outpost for an underdeveloped art.  But what we need is world peace, the cultivation of new ideas that allow for our most nagging problems to become relics of the past.  I KNOW WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN 21 DEC!!!!  We need dialogue, we need social media, we need self-empowerment to get the message out to everybody. You are going to look at the information at www.allsevenbillionofus.com  and you are going to discuss it with as many people as you can, and you are going to be part of the greatest movement of human consciousness we've ever encountered.

@Maynard Check out Surry Community College's Viticulture and Enology program in North Carolina... might give you some great ideas to pass along. Wine Knowledge and viticulture is on the rise exponentially here in the Yadkin Valley. I have studied wine for a few years, but am opting to go in a different route. Micro breweries followed the wine explosion in Cali. and i am predicting it will similarly follw here, so i am going to be at the head of that movement. If there is no movement, ill create one.! thanks for being a great inspiration.
