Peachcake, the colorful local dance band knows how to put on an entertaining live show with plenty of funky outfits and confetti to go around. The band recently performed at a Norwegian music festival for the second time and has somewhat of a cult following abroad.

Check out the enthusiasm of Peachcake's Norwegian fans and watch their brand new video for "The World is Our Platform to Mean Something" after the jump.

Up on the Sun: How did you guys end up performing at a Norwegian music festival?

Stefan Pruett: We've had a huge following in Norway for three years. The whole thing started as result of a fluke but official performance at CMJ back in 2008, I think. The festival curators of Slottsfjell happened to catch our showcase there, and loved the show.

Three months later we were invited to play the same festival (Slottsfjell), and although we were a smaller band on the bill, we had garnered a huge response and crowd, resulting in one of the festival's most "legendary" and "memorable" performances ever. They ended up creating a category in our name at the festival, "This Year's Peachcake," and inviting bands that reflected the "wildness" of us. For their 10 year anniversary, which was this year, we were invited back as the big surprise for "This Year's Peachcake," and welcomed by a massive crowd of thousands and thousands of people. We're like a mini-Beatles over there, no joke.

The audience response was and has always been fantastic and mesmerizing, it's kind of overwhelming in the best ways. It's weird to tour, play shows, and release music in your own country and be somewhat known but typically overlooked, and then go to another country that you've been to twice, know little about, and don't even speak the language, and literally be huge superstars. I say this as humbly as possible.

It seems like more people these days like and know about us in Europe than in the States. I think it's time for a move, to be honest. I wish people here were less uptight and reveled the joy of dance music (that wasn't some overblown category of it) more. People over there actually know how to party. It's amazing.

What's one of the craziest things that happened to the band in Norway?

After the festival, I ended up in Oslo which is the capital of Norway. My girlfriend and I went to a random pizza place before catching a train and it turned out our hostess saw my bracelets for the festival and asked if we went. I said that we had performed there, and she asked who we were, and when I told her who we were, she instantly knew and her eyes got wide with what appeared to be excitement. Her response was, "Oh yeah, you guys are really big here, like celebrities." Apparently celebrities don't get free pizza in Norway.

What inspired "The World is our Platform to Mean Something?"
This song was inspired by an artist named Mel Chin and his relentless creative endeavor(s) to clear up lead pollution in the soil throughout the United States.

The song deals with the idea of feeling isolated in your cause, your ideas, your art, or even just as a person in this world, and how we all desire to not only feel wanted or loved, but to be heard, considered, appreciated, and that our world is somehow, someway listening to us and is receptive or responsive to what we have to say, and thus, what makes us who we are. It's not easy to be a human these days. Not only are other humans vying for the same attention and will to be understood as you, but now robots, and completely manufactured lifestyles are as well. It's a hard knock life, man.

Peachcake is scheduled to perform at Apache Lake Music Festival on Friday, October 12.
