You'll love his guts, we swear.
Just in time for the Halloween season, noted heavy metal icon and horror enthusiast Scott Ian of Anthrax has launched a new web series,Blood & Guts, on the Nerdist YouTube channel.

Ian visits various horror-oriented special effects studios, gets a close-up look at famous movie props (think the original Alien and Night of the Living Dead), and also gets in on the action himself.

So far, Ian has had his head chainsawed in half (personally my favorite to date because of the painstaking creation process), experienced a zombie biting a chunk of tendons out of his neck, and even bashed in a zombie's head, which blood-spattering The Walking Dead enthusiasts will relish.

"I've been neck-deep in blood and guts for the last 30 years playing in Anthrax," stated Scott Ian to Fangoria, "so I couldn't be more excited to be hosting a show called Blood & Guts for you horror and metal fans."

The show grants viewers access to the secret labs and toy shops of such gore gurus as Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead) and other Picassos of fake blood. In the age of incredible digital effects and technology, it's inspiring to see these makeup experts carving a niche for themselves. Ian brings a lot to the table as well, considering he is a huge horror fan with a skewed sense of humor, so he fits right in.

His favorite horror make-up moment?

"The first thing to pop in my mind is when Tom Savini gets torn apart in Dawn Of The Dead. That scared me as a kid and I guess you could kinda say it stayed with me--in a good way," Ian told to Fangoria.

Blood & Guts premiered on October 3 with weekly episodes that range from seven to 10 minutes in length.
