In this week's issue of Phoenix New Times, we profile Anamieke Quinn, Fervor Records publicist and musician in three local bands, including the group she fronts, Treasurefruit. The group recently lost their young bassist, which inspired Quinn to write "Giddy Up."

"The song was inspired by the recent passing of our Treasurefruit bassist, coupled with our subtle identity shift into a full-fledged 'desert noir' band," Quinn says, "meaning that we are embracing the dark western twang that's been rumbling beneath the rock n' roll surface for a while. The message is to make the most out of our short time on earth. Work hard now to make your dreams come true, and stop waiting for life to start, or it might be too late."

Check out the song, along with lyrics, after the jump, and see Treasurefruit perform live tonight at the Rhythm Room.

Giddy Up

Giddy up and go, you've got a lot of trail to blaze
Giddy up and go, or you'll be caught up in the haze
You'd better take time to get things right, because you
Never know when God is turnin' out that light, so
Giddy up and go and start a brand new day

Giddy up and go, you gotta mighty herd to drive
Giddy up and go, it's gonna be a crazy ride
They say to thine own self be true, and you
Never know who might be lookin' down on you, so
Giddy up and go, into the open range

Giddy up Paint, now, don't be slow
Cause we've still got a long way to go
We can ride all through the night
And rest our heads in the morning time
Oh we can rest our heads in the morning time

Giddy up and go, before the storm comes rollin' in
Giddy up and go, or you'll be taken by the wind
Oh many young cowboy have fought this fight, but
Few of them have ever made it to the light, so
Giddy up and go, before it gets too late

Oh the Devil's gonna get you if you lose your way
And the preacher man can only help if you pray, but
Far too many cattle now have gone astray, so
Giddy up....giddy up and go
(whistle)

Giddy up Paint, now, don't be slow
Cause we've still got a long way to go
We can ride all through the night
And rest our heads in the morning time
Oh we can rest our heads in the morning time
