I Know You're Here Because I Can Smell Your Brains: Eight Songs About Zombies
Some guy eats another guy's face while sitting at a bus stop. A student killed his roommate and ate his heart and brain. A New Jerseyan stabbed himself 50 times and threw his guts at the police.
No face eating here...
If you haven't noticed, we're clearly living at the dawn of the zombie dead. When exactly is Bruce Campbell is going to come to the rescue with a fist full of boomstick?
But you can be prepared. Crack open your copy of The Zombie Survival Guide, load up Resident Evil on your old PS2, and pop in your George A. Romero Blu-Rays: here are eight required zombie songs you need to listen to before snorting bath salts.
The Cranberries, "Zombie"
No zombie list would be complete without this '90s alternative rock hit. It's horror flick soundtrack, however: it pertains to strife in Northern Ireland, particularly two children being killed in an IRA bombing.
Andrew Jackson Jihad, "Zombie by the Cranberries by Andrew Jackson Jihad"
This song is also obviously not about literal zombies -- but if you're holed up in a shopping mall surviving a zombie attack, consider sharing some smokes with your neighbor.
Rob Zombie, "Living Dead Girl"
"Blood on her skin
Dripping with Sin
Do it again
Living Dead Girl"
Zombies may only want you for your brains, but that's better than wanting somebody just for their bangin' bod. The music video pays homage to the horror classic, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari with Rob Zombie's spookiness and a living dead girl.
Jonathan Coulton, "Re: Your Brains"
"All we wanna do is eat your brains.
We're not unreasonable, I mean, no one's gonna eat your eyes."
This song might as serve as an office-based zombie outbreak.
