White Rabbits, Gull, and Other Successful Animal Rock Bands

Nasty Little Man
Indie rockers White Rabbits are coming up fast and now they're on their way to potentially making it big. They recently appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman, and they released a fantastic music video for their single "Heavy Metal" in support of their album Milk Famous, which also just came out.

While peeping the lineup for their gig tonight, we couldn't help but notice that the roster sounds like some sort of indie rock zoo. Gull will be opening for White Rabbits.

There are plenty of other bands with animal names that have reached some crazy levels of success, so here's to hoping that the charm of having an animal name can work for White Rabbits too.

White Rabbits and Gull are scheduled to perform tonight at the Crescent Ballroom.

Miniature Tigers
Charlie Brand and his boys have a sound that tends to have a certain effect on people that's anything but miniature.

Counting Crows
Adam Duritz's huge hair looks like it's full of secrets...or maybe a nest of crows that are about to fly out at any second.

The Eagles
Don Henley, Joe Walsh and the others have found immense success over the years and even have one of the best selling albums of all time. Their name works for them though; they make strong impressions, and their music is just so American.

Deer Tick
The alt-country band that started out as a solo project grew in size and fame, gradually gaining both notoriety and more band members over the years.

Band of Horses
As another band for whom the animal name theory worked nicely, Band of Horses ended up being the opener for Kings of Leon on the road this past summer...or what was left of a tour, anyway, since Caleb Followill's issues made him pussy out.

Modest Mouse
Isaac Brock and his band have found more than just modest success. Their name seems fitting, considering their music isn't very loud or in your face.

Animal Collective
This trippy group is known for their "sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't" experimental ways. At the very least, these animal dudes made a big splash with their Merriweather Post Pavilion album.
