Black Tusk
Is it just me, or has it been a crazy week?

Between all the SXSW craziness (I'm not there, but the sheer amount of reading I've done from people who are feels staggering), the sorta-but-not-really surprise closure of The Clubhouse in Tempe, and trying to stay on top of everything happening on St. Patrick's Day, I'm pooped. Like, crawl-into-bed and watch Cosmos on Netflix Instant Watch for three days pooped.

But that's no way to be; there's just too much happening this weekend. Chief among the gotta-see gigs? Read on for our picks, and hit us up in the comment section with yours.

And remember: We lost a venue this week, but we didn't lose live music in the Valley.

Friday, March 16:

Georgia-based swamp metal band Black Tusk heads to Chaser's in Scottsdale, dragging out thick, sluggish riffs from some deep pit of sludge in the South. Bonus: Intronaut and Twingiant. Sheeeiiit.

Don't get confused: John O'Callaghan, lead singer of The Maine isn't DJing, but a much balder guy is, bringing trance ambiance to Wild Knight in Scottsdale.

Kris Roe of The Ataris has practically been living in Phoenix working on the next Ataris record at Flying Blanket Studios in Mesa. He makes things "semi-local band official" with a full band rock show at Yucca Tap Room tonight.

Saturday, March 17

We've got you covered: Check out our 10 Must-See Saint Pat's Day Shows.

Sunday, March 18

Head still reeling from Irish debauchery? Come down with the cerebral-but-soulful sound of avant-guitarist Dustin Wong at Trunk Space.
