Miss Krystle
For a young woman who claims she's not a star, local electronic pop artist Miss Krystle, featured in this week's copy of Phoenix New Times, certainly has no problem getting all eyes on her.

Her latest music video, "Want a Star," has already amassed more than 120,000 views on YouTube and provides enough provocation to keep all eyes on her.

The self-funded clip, which Krystle wrote the treatment for herself, was shot here in town. The sexy video features dancers from local troupe Scorpious Dance Theatre and was directed by Elissa Eve, and while the clip's scenes borrow directly from the lyrics, Krystle explains a deeper meaning to the song.

"In it's simplest form, 'Want a Star' is about a guy I fell for who wanted me for all the wrong reasons," Krystle says. "The music video treatment was more about the interplay of the different worlds I live in, and how in one context I can be perceived as erratic, theatrical and outrageous, and elsewhere perceived as reserved and gentle. Both are honest representations of my personality. Tying the two together, I guess you could say the music video is about how I perceive others perceiving me, and focused on one specific experience."

Check out lyrics for the song, along with the video, after the jump, and read the full story on Miss Krystle here.

"Want a Star"

Don't look at me that way
Like I'm a normal girl
Don't look at me that way
Like I don't exist in your world

This morning I decided
That I would let you go,
And I would let you know
And I would let you know that

I am not your girl
I am not your girl
I am not your girl
But you want a star

Lace and a pretty face
La-la-ace and a pretty
La-la-ace and a pretty
It's what he wants, right
If you want a star
You want a star
You want a star
Then I am not your lady
Then I am not your lady
Then I am not your lady

I almost let you in my
Bed burning baby
Complicated my head
Dumb girl, that's what you said

This morning I decided
That I would let you go
And I would let you know
And I would let you know that

I am not your girl
I am not your girl
I am not your girl
Paparazzi come and get me

Lace and a pretty face
La-la-ace and a pretty
La-la-ace and a pretty
It's what he wants, right
If you want a star
You want a star
You want a star
Then I am not your lady

Lace and a pretty face
Don't give it to the man, keeping that middle finger up
Lace and a pretty face
Don't give it to the man, keeping that middle finger up
Lace and a pretty face
I am not a robot so don't you tell me what to do
Lace and a pretty face
I am not a robot so won't listen to you

Ya'll want a star
Ya'll want a star

Lace and a pretty face
La-la-ace and a pretty
La-la-ace and a pretty
I'm what you want
Ya'll want a star
I'll give her to ya
Ya'll want a star
I'll give her to ya
Ya'll want a star
I can make her for ya
And break her for you

You want to play that game
Then, tattoo my name
You want to play that game
Then, tattoo my name
You want to play that game
Put your money where your mouth is
You want a star, then
You'll put your money where your mouth is

Lace and a pretty face
La-la-ace and a pretty
La-la-ace and a pretty
It's what you want, right
If you want a star
You want a star
You want a star
Then I am not your lady
