One of the greatest advantages of living in Arizona is the state's proximity to other cool places: Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Mexico are all an afternoon's drive away. Spend two days on the road (or one if you have multiple drivers and a decent ride) and you can end up in Austin, Texas.

No wonder so many Arizona bands are headed to South by Southwest this year. Among them is Future Loves Past, who drew on their classic rock roots to play Pink Floyd's "Fearless", from the band's 1971 record Meddle for this installment of Take Cover.

"We really like classic rock and it's obviously a classic rock song. We used a lot of vocals and cool effects. One of the things we like to do is put almost a hip-hop beat on a folkie song, and that's what we did in there," says vocalist/guitarist Tristan DeDe. "We also changed the lyrics around a little bit to fit some of the public figures. We added Jack Maverick to the song because he loves Pink Floyd so much and he's now the magistrate."

Future Loves Past is scheduled to perform Sunday, March 11, at 910 Live in Tempe.

Future Loves Past plays a few covers, but "Fearless" was the most natural for the band.

"It was one of the first cover songs we learned. I just happened to be messing around on banjo and figured out that I could play that song, so we learned it as a band. I play banjo on it occasionally and lately we've been using the electric guitar out of mostly laziness," says DeDe.

Future Loves Past will play a SXSW fundraiser party on Sunday, March 11, at 910 Live in Tempe.

Future Loves Past is one of my favorite bands of all time! They are band that makes me smile! I first met them at their first show when they were "Head, Knees, Toes and Shoulders". Jack Maverik asked if they could close the show for my band Hi-Fi Beta and I am so glad I said yes! Love you FLP!

Tristan is a super cool dude. Met him a Deon DiVinci's bday and that guy has a choir of angels living in his belly.
