Glen Matlock with Rich Kids
Say "Sex Pistols" and the names Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten might come to mind. Less likely is someone shouting out, "Glen Matlock." But they should; not only is he the band's original bassist, but drummer Paul Cook suggests he wrote most of the songs on the infamous Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols.

He was replaced in the band by Vicious, but hardly retired from the spotlight, forming the awesome Rich Kids and penning the classic new wave/power-pop jam "Ghosts of Princes in Towers" with his bandmate Steve New. He's played with Primal Scream, the reformed Sex Pistols, and most recently, The Faces, a band that probably would be considered kinda proto-punk if not for that whole Rod Stewart thing.

Matlock is playing Crescent Ballroom with Hugh Cornwell of The Stranglers on Saturday night. It's one of our must see gigs this weekend. Read on to listen to Matlock and see our other picks.

Friday, February 24:

The idea of seeing '90s R&B crooner Keith Sweat in a casino might make you feel a little old, but once gets to singing sexy in his trademark nasally tone, the years will just roll back. Keith Sweat is scheduled to perform at Fort McDowell Casino.

Nerd rapper Adam WarRock teams up with MegaRan tonight at the Stray Cat Bar and Grill.

Saturday, February 25:

Hugh Cornwell and Glen Matlock (shown above, performing with Rich Kids) are scheduled to perform at Crescent Ballroom. Glass Heroes open.

Get moving with the erudite electro-pop of Treasure Fingers, performing at Brick.

Sunday, February 26:

Stan Deveraux
will headline the Arizona Legends revue at Crescent Ballroom, singing classic soul, R&B, and blues.
