So much for drinking that Red Bull. All I needed for some real energy was Fitz and The Tantrums.

Making their first appearance in Phoenix, the band brought a soulful and energetic sound, and once they stepped foot on the stage the crowd couldn't get enough.

The location, not known for live music, made for a diverse crowd. Kids and grandparents sang and danced along, "because everyone knows Fitz and The Tantrums likes to get down," lead singer Michael "Fitz" Fitzpatrick said.

The energy level never slowed down. It just kept going and continuously built. There was constant dancing, saxophone and flute solos, rocking of the tambourine and it lasted the whole set. This all came from a six-member band. Not once did one of the band members outshine another leaving them in the shadows. They were all individually great, but together they were amazing.

Phoenix was in for a treat when a new song titled, "Lovesick Man" was played. The crowd was asked to give a thumbs-up or down after the song had ended. Guess how the crowd voted? Speaking with the band after the show, they indicated that they aren't planning to slow down any time soon. In about a month they will be in the studio to record the new track as part of their next album. The album will have some unique influences, like Neon Indian, Major Lazer, Adele, and of course, anything Motown.

It's been a fast ride for Fitz and the Tantrums. Merely six months after forming, they got a boost from Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine who heard about the band through his tattoo artist. They were invited to join Maroon 5 on their College Tour, and ever since the big break, Fitz and The Tantrums have been at it non-stop.

And no need to worry if you missed out on the Friday the 13th celebration, Phoenix will see them again. "For sure we'll be back," saxophonist James King said.

No need for energy drinks, if last night's show is an indication of the normal Fitz and the Tantrums energy level.
