When you put your key in the ignition and turn on the radio, what station would play right now? NPR. I love keeping up on the news, but they also have so many great stories on culture, including art, literature, music.
What's the first album you bought? There are two albums I got very early on -- Nirvana's Nevermind and Guns N' Roses Appetite for Destruction. I also had Mariah Carey and Color Me Badd CD's early on. Haha.
What's the first concert you saw? Sebadoh in Tempe -- it was fabulous!
What's your favorite concert you've ever been to? Jimmy Eat World, also in Tempe!
What's the last song played on your music player? Been listening a lot to this rapper, Casual, and his song "Me-O-Mi-O".
Preferred format: CD, vinyl, cassette, 8-Track or digital? Digital, but I really love vinyl albums because of the large covers -- you can see the artwork really well.
What's your favorite album? So many. Beastie Boys, Licensed To Ill; Johnny Cash, Sings the Ballads of the Old West; Clash, Sandinista!
Who is your favorite singer or band? Johnny Cash, Serge Gainsbourg, Blondie, Georges Brassens, The Ventures, Shonen Knife.
Does you computer track how many times you've played something -- if so, what's at the top of the list? "Johnny Reb," by Johnny Cash.
What was your favorite new or new-to-you album from 2010? Not sure if it's new, but I really like Joanna Newsom's newest album (Have One on Me.)
What one song would you play if you had a world-wide radio audience? Probably something peaceful and inspirational -- John Lennon's "Imagine," for instance?
Who is your favorite local artist? Jimmy Eat World.
What is your favorite local venue to see music? I don't get much of a chance to check out the music scene, but I really like the DJ's at Bar Smith -- they also play at the FilmBar on Friday nights.
What is your favorite music video? Don't know if this counts, but there is an amazing video on YouTube of the Who performing their rock opera Tommy. I can listen to that over and over.
