When you put your key in the ignition and turn on the radio, what station would play right now? 98.3-FM or 95.1-FM. I love listening to reggaeton and hip-hop while driving because it makes me feel cool.
What's the first album you bought? Belly's Star. I still have it, and I still love it.
What's the first concert you saw? Richard Marx at the Illinois State Fair with my parents. The first concert I went to alone was to see Marilyn Manson. I was in high school in central Illinois, and people in my town thought he worshipped Satan, so I begged my mom to let me go. She dropped my sister and I off in our family minivan in front of the stadium. We changed into all black clothes and put goth makeup on in the bathroom at the concert before the show.
What's your favorite concert you've ever been to? Seeing Of Montreal at the Rialto (Theatre in Tucson) last year on Halloween. I performed with Phoenix burlesque troupe Provocatease, who opened up for Of Montreal that night, and at the end of Of Montreal's set, they brought us all on-stage. We got to dance on stage with the band during their encore. It was amazing.
What's the last song played on your music player? "I Want To Know What Love Is" by Foreigner. I love Foreigner.
Preferred format: CD, vinyl, cassette, 8-Track or digital? Vinyl if I am home, digital if I'm outside of my home.
What's your favorite album? Broken Social Scene's You Forgot It in People. I listen to this record almost everyday.
Who is your favorite singer or band? Broken Social Scene is probably my favorite band. I also really love At the Drive-In (RIP) and Yo La Tengo. My favorite singer is probably PJ Harvey or Thao Nguyen. I also really love Foreigner, and not in an ironic way. In a real way. I would marry that band.
Does you computer track how many times you've played something -- if so, what's at the top of the list? "Lover's Spit" from Broken Social Scene's You Forgot It In People.
What was your favorite new or new-to-you album from 2010? Beach House's Teen Dream blew me away last year. So did their performance at the Clubhouse.
What one song would you play if you had a world-wide radio audience? Salt-N-Pepa's "Shoop," because that's real talk.
Who is your favorite local artist? There are so many good Phoenix bands! Oh, my! My favorite local band of all time is Fatigo, i also really loved Haunted Cologne (RIP), and I really enjoy Lonna Kelly's music. I designed a flyer for her show at the Crescent Ballroom. Snow Songs is amazing. I love Treasure Mammal and I Hate You When You're Pregnant. Man About A Dog, Minibosses, Colorstore, Sweetbleeders, Female Trouble, Necronauts, Quarter Inch Crown, Monophonic Hillside, Djentrification, Wooden Indian, Scrupulous -- ah, there are so many!
What is your favorite local venue to see music? The Rhythm Room is great because it's small, but somewhat big acts play there, so you get to see cool bands play in a small space. I haven't been to the Crescent Ballroom yet but i keep hearing good things.
What is your favorite music video? Peaches and Iggy Pop's video for "Kick It."
