Kyuss Lives! and Former Queens of the Stone Age Bassist Nick Oliveri Facing 15 Years in Jail

Kyuss Lives!, which features most of the members of seminal '90s stoner rock band Kyuss (but not Josh Homme, who's apparently too busy being in Queens of the Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures), is scheduled to play Marquee Theatre on October 6.

It should be an awesome show -- after all, Kyuss' brand of desert rock plays here almost as well as it plays in the Palm Desert -- but Nick Oliveri, the band's bassist, may not with the band when they play here with The Sword and MonstrO.

'Cause he might be in jail by then.

Oliveri was arrested last month after a particularly epic SWAT team standoff that started as a domestic disturbance and ended up with the police finding a high-powered, fully-loaded rifle, cocaine, and methamphetamine in Oliveri's home.

As reported by TMZ, Oliveri could face up to 15 years in jail if convicted on all charges.

That hasn't stopped Kyuss Lives! from charging ahead with their tour. The band's recruited Scott Reeder, who played with Kyuss from '92-'95, to join the band on the road for a series of shows. No telling if Reeder, who's also played with The Obsessed, and produced albums by Sunn O))), Orange Goblin, and others, will stick around until October, but it's unlikely Oliveri is going to be able to leave California at all.

The band has been working on a new record, set to be released in 2012, though its unclear how far along the record was before Oliveri's epic insane-o-fest, and whether or not the completed project will feature any of his playing.

The Dwarves, another band Oliveri has done time in -- er, been a part of -- is scheduled to hit The Marquee on September 18, but don't count on Oliveri showing up for that show either, unless, I dunno, he does something crazy.
