This Century
The Young & Useless Tour may not be so aptly named. While the performers -- Austin Gibbs, Carter Hulsey, and headliners This Century -- are young, they're not exactly useless. Locals This Century, in particular, has been generating buzz around their feelgood, melodic indie rock. Alternative Press named the band as one of "100 Bands You Need to Know in 2011," and their most recent album, Sound of Fire (on Warner imprint Action Theory Records), debuted in the top 40 on iTunes.

Recognition like that is actually darn useful, especially for a band on its first headlining tour. (This Century's previously supported acts like Good Charlotte, Never Shout Never, Hey Monday, and Tempe rockers The Maine.)

"On this tour, we're finally getting a chance to do what we want creatively with the show," said This Century front man Joel Kanitz. "We get the chance to make it an actual production, rather than just play a 30 minute set. Fans can expect to see a lot more from us visually, and they'll hear more songs than what they're used to with a typical TC show. Besides all of that, we'll be sticking around after the shows so we can hang out and meet everyone. Should be a lot of fun!"

Check out the video for "Sound of Fire" below, and see This Century live when The Young & Useless Tour kicks off Thursday, July 7, at the Martini Ranch in Scottsdale.
