Arizona resident and legendary singer/songwriter Glen Campbell will release his last album on August 30, titled Ghost On The Canvas.

Campbell was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, which is apparently a factor in his decision to stop recording and touring after this album. Campbell discussed his career and health with People magazine, and plans to embark on a worldwide "Glen Campbell Goodbye Tour" after his last album comes out.

Campbell began his career as a session musician in Los Angeles in 1958, then played with the Wrecking Crew through the 1970s. In 1964, he was invited to tour with the Beach Boys, playing bass and singing falsetto. His solo success started in 1967, when Campbell's "Gentle on My Mind" became a hit. He's had a handful of hits since, including "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" (1967) and "Rhinestone Cowboy" (1975).

Ghost on the Canvas was produced by Julian Raymond (Roseanne Cash, Fleetwood Mac), and includes appearances by a host of notable musicians, including Paul Westerberg, Jakob Dylan, Chris Isaak, Dick Dale, Billy Corgan, Brian Setzer, and The Dandy Warhols. A complete tour itinerary for Campbell's last tour is expected to be announced soon.
