Arctic Monkeys' Suck It and See Album Cover Reportedly Censored by Some Retailers

Arctic Monkeys: Suck It and See what happens.

British garage pop rockers Arctic Monkeys' next album, Suck It and See, hits American store shelves Monday, June 6 -- but some stores are going to censor the album cover, according to singer Alex Turner in a recent interview with London radio station XFM 104.9.

Turner wouldn't name specific stateside stores, only that the retailers are "big ones."

"They think it is rude, disrespectful, and they're putting a sticker over it in America in certain stores," Turner said.

As for what's so rude and disrespectful, it's apparently just the album's title. As you'll see in the photo after the jump (where we also have a link to a full stream of the Suck It and See album), there's nothing on the "offensive" cover but text.

I can see how album covers such as 2 Live Crew's As Nasty As They Wanna Be (image: a bunch of women in g-strings standing with their asses to the camera) or the original Bon Jovi Slippery When Wet cover (a close-up shot of soaking wet, big boobies in a tight swimsuit) could be deemed generally offensive, but honestly, the phrase "Suck it and see" can be dubious.

Maybe they're talking about lollipops, eh? Who's really got the dirty minds, American retailers?

Seriously, anyone who's old enough to read the album title is probably capable of handling the insinuation. But whatever, we can buy the album and peel the sticker off.
