At the start of this year, Martin Cizmar wrote an excellent piece about local folk-punks Andrew Jackson Jihad. Though the band is known for lyrically dense, poignant songs, they also have a reputation as being damn funny guys.

The duo, comprised of guitarist/singer Sean Bonnette and bassist Ben Gallaty, released a collection of previously released EPs earlier this year, Candy Cigarettes, Capguns, Issue Problems and Such, and songs on the record like "Dad Song" and "Scenesters" were full acerbic, bleak humor.

Add "Sad Song," from the recently released Lauren Records compilation I Think We Should Stay Away From Each Other, which features AJJ as well as bands like Big Kids, Joyce Manor, Japanther, and others, to the band's list of dark, chuckle inducing tunes.

The track finds the band taking a bit of a honky-tonk approach, and was recorded with downtown drummer/DJ Shane Kennedy in the apartment above Cibo Pizzeria

You can stream the tune below, complete with a line about tears in beers and a whistle solo.
