Bands with blood brothers in them have had notorious squabbles, whether it's the Jackson Five at odds with Papa Joe or the Gallagher brothers of Oasis at odds with each other.

But local rock band Kongos, comprised of four brothers (their last name is Kongos) seem to get along better than the rest. As we noted in a music feature about them a few years ago, the members of Kongos have music in their blood. Their father, John Kongos, had a couple hits in Britain in the '70s, and encouraged his sons to start a band.

So far, so good for Kongos. Last year, the band started its own record label, Tokoloshe Records, and is finishing up their second full-length album. The latest single from that album, "I'm Only Joking," was just labeled a "Homegrown Hit" by local radio station KWSS 106.7 FM. And to top it off, Kongos is playing not one, but two free shows this week.

"I'm Only Joking" is a percussion-heavy stomp of a song, decorated with a swinging indie rock chorus (à la Muse), and smooth, restrained vocals. You can hear it at the band's web site, www.kongos.com, or hear it live when Kongos plays the following free shows this week:
